Spray Drying Bench Scale • Pilot Scale • Full-Scale Production
Martech Research is one of the few companies in the United States with comprehensive in-house capabilities to support clients through every stage of spray drying — from concept to full commercial production.
We begin at the Bench Scale, where our team develops and optimizes critical parameters, particle size, density, and texture using small gram quantities. Once the formulation is refined, we scale the process to Pilot Scale to validate performance and produce representative mid-sized batches. Upon successful pilot testing, we seamlessly transition into Full-Scale Production, delivering consistent, high-quality powders at commercial volumes.

Equipment Highlights
Bench
Buchi® Mini S-300
A highly automated laboratory instrument designed to convert solutions, emulsions, and suspensions into dry micro-powders. Widely used in pharmaceutical, food, and chemical research, it yields consistent, high-quality particles with a 100-gram p/hour water evaporation rate.
Pilot
2-Meter Pilot Scale
An industry-leading research and development (R&D) system bridging the gap between lab-scale testing and commercial manufacturing. Using a high-speed rotating disk, it converts liquid feedstocks into dry powders, offering excellent flexibility for handling viscous slurries and producing highly uniform particle sizes at a rate of 100# p/hour. Full CIP system included.
Production
4-Meter Large Scale
A continuous industrial system designed to evaporate large volumes of liquid feed into stable, uniform powders using a high-speed centrifugal atomizer. Highly favored for large-capacity chemical, food, and pharmaceutical operations requiring excellent bulk density control at a rate of 800# p/hour. Fluidized bed dryer as 2nd stage CIP included.
Yamato Spray Dryer
The Yamato large capacity spray dryer is designed for laboratory-scale process development, pilot testing, and handling expensive or heat-sensitive samples at an evaporation rate of ~ 3,000 grams p/hour.
